BRIEF HISTORY OF
UDINAH: THE AMONSA MAGAZINE
After the creation
of AMONSA in 2001, an editorial board was established with
terms of reference of bringing into being a MAGAZINE of the
association.
Because of the need
to deeply root the baby association, the first editorial
board channelled all their efforts in this direction. The
major challenge was the creation of established branches.
This forestalled the production of a magazine till the third
year.
In 2004 the first
edition of the magazine was launched by December. The name
UDINAH meaning “the way” in AMO was adopted as the official
name of the magazine-a name suggested by INNOCENT EMMANUEL
the pioneer editor.
It was extremely
difficult to source funds for the publishing of the magazine
as students. In spite of the fact that most influential
people were sought for assistance, the computer design was
ordinarily photocopied and wrapped with an inferior cover
page. Although the first edition was the maiden edition, the
patronage was not encouraging despite the resounding
applause. It was first sold at the AMO parley of 2004 at
Amo-Katako.
The members of the
first editorial board produced consecutively three editions
(volume 1, 2 and three) from 2004-2007 improving its quality
and quantity with every edition. The problems
of funding and patronage remained the major obstacles.
Members of the first
editorial board include:
1.
INNOCENT EMMANUEL
(PELE BANGAMS) (Chief Editor)
2.
SETH TIPINPING
BATURE (Editor)
3.
LIZINO RUTH
ANFANI (Treasurer)
4.
TABITHA KINANG
HASSAN (Correspondence Director.)
Handing over was
done to the new Chief Editor NJAH DAVID AKAWU, December
2007. No new magazine was published by the board in this
dispensation. By December 2008, a new Editorial board-the
third, came on board wholly sponsored by Dr. MICHAEL APESSE
JIBRIN a proud son of the soil and member of the then member
of the Plateau State House of Assembly. They produced the
fourth edition in December 2009 with outstanding quality,
yet patronage only marginally increased.
Members of the third
Editorial Board are:
1.
SETH
TIPINPING BATURE (Chief Editor)
2.
BUNANI APAT
(Editor)
3.
BUNANI NABASU
4.
NANA
We now have the
fourth editorial board with BUNANI APAT as Chief Editor. We
look forward to a vibrant Editorial Board and a well
improved Fifth Edition of UDINAH.
Dr. INNOCENT
EMMANUEL (PELE BANGAMS.) Pioneer Chief Editor AMONSA
EDITORIAL BOARD.
